Een kleine maand terug vroeg ik mij af ik de betekenis van het Spaanse woord Olé (een uitdrukking van aanmoediging en goedkeuring) wel juist had begrepen. Dus keek ik het even snel na in Wikipedia, waar ik meteen weer iets nieuws bijleerde.
"Olé Olé Olé" The phrase has its roots in North Africa, stretching back to the time before the Moors invaded Spain. "Allah, Allah, Allah" was often used during performances to signify the external power granted by God to a performer.
The pronunciation of the phrase changed over the years, and became "Olé Olé Olé" and can often be heard at Spanish bullfights and flamenco dances, which proceeded its adaption by Irish football fans.
