Gisteren lanceerde WikiMedia, bij de twaalfde verjaardag van Wikipedia, een twaalfde project onder de naam "WikiVoyage". Een online reisgids die verder bouwt op een eerder project en daardoor reeds in 9 talen  (Nederlands, Engels, Frans, Duits, Italiaans, Russisch, Portugees, Spaans en Zweeds) en met 50 000 artikels beschikbaar is.

“There’s a huge global demand for travel information, but very few sources are both comprehensive and non-commercial. That’s about to change,” -Sue Gardner, Executive Director of the Wikimedia Foundation.

“The purpose of the Wikivoyage Association is to promote education and knowledge of all countries and regions in the world, as well as understanding among nations,” - Stefan Fussan, Chairman of the board of the Wikivoyage Association.
